Knowing Means Knowing What's Not

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of scoffers.

--Psalm 1:1 NKJV

The Psalmist defines the man who is blessed, at first, in negatives.

Before we can know what being blessed means, we must first know what it is not.

It's not listening to ungodly advice. How many times has that gotten us into a fix?

It's not joining in sinful behavior. Even good dogs turn bad when they run with bad dogs.

It's not becoming a scoffer. Life's too short to be cynical and critical all the time. Stay away from the joy killers. You don't need them.

Today I will check myself by the Psalmist's list.

In mathematics, a negative and a negative is a positive.

Aren't you blessed to know that God already knew that?

I positively know I am.
